I’m way late in the game here, but am I the only one whose mind goes to a bad place with this? From the Quaker website:
“The Quaker oat. It’s not just a grain. It’s a super grain…… For more than 100 years, the Quaker oat has been a source of human energy”
In reading about this campaign, I found a handful of sock-puppet “commenters” on various message boards —Quaker’s REALLY working this “gruel for the people In These Tough Economic Times” angle.
But something annoys me about Quaker’s self-consciously benevolent restraint here—the stark background, the gray font, the use of only half the mascot’s face. Maybe it’s the contrasting extraterrestrially detached use of the word “humans”? The lack of punctuation is great, too— there’s no time for commas, dammit, GO!!!! RUN, RUN, RUN!!!!
